The Schumann Singers rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The first practice for our Spring concert is scheduled for January 12 and will continue each Thursday until March 29th, except for March 15, at First United Methodist Church, 522 White Ave., Grand Junction. Our concert, The Stars, The Moon, and The Heavens will be presented on Friday, March 23, 2012.
We are pleased to have been invited to join the Grand Junction Symphony as part of the symphony chorus in a performance of Mozart's Requiem on May 1, 2012. Rehearsals for that program will be announced at a later date.
Attire for concerts is ladies in dresses owned by the choir and provided at no charge. Men provide their own standard black tuxedo with white shirt, black tie, black socks and black shoes.
Members are assessed a fee of $30.00 for each concert to help cover the cost of music and other incidental expenses. Practice CDs of all parts are provided to assist you in learning the music and occasional sectional rehearsals are held to unify each part, soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.
We take great pride in our choir and assume that new members will as well. Attendance and punctuality at rehearsals is vital with some flexibility for unexpected conflicts. Having command over the music implies that we all practice our parts diligently so that extra rehearsals are unnecessary. Over the years, the members of the Schumann Singers have developed great enthusiasm for what we do and that translates to similar enthusiasm in our audience. We have a great time, and they do too!
